As the Group Treasurer, I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped fund raise for the group over the last year to enable the Acorn Activity Camp to take place. With your help we managed to raise just over £4000.
A grant of £1000 from Durham Council got us well on our way. Josh Daniels (Scout) has completed a substantial amount by doing the Children's Great North Run and donated all of his sponsor money £75 to help fund the camp - Well Done Josh! The Group also did a sponsor bag pack at Sainsbury’s last Christmas, which was great fun, raising over £500. Consequently, we then received over £600 in Match Funding from Barclays Bank. If anyone else works for an organisation which offers match funding, or can offer any other type of financial support to the group, then please contact either myself or a leader with details - every little helps!! One of the highlights of all of the fund raising activities, for me was the Beatle Drive / Pie & Pea Supper, which was held a Vane Tempest last year. The night was a fantastic success, not only because we raised over £400, but because of those who were prepared to lend a hand in the organisation, those who arranged the food, worked on the cake and chocolate fountain stall, those who donated home baking, the book stall, the card stall, the Scouts who served the food, those who donated raffle prizes, the list goes on and on.... We had a great night, a fantastic turn out, from the beavers, cubs, scouts, friends and family. That's what 4th Durham is all about: having fun and working together to achieve great results!! Well done everyone, without your support we could not have raised this fantastic amount of money!!! Thanks, Aileen Scott 4th Durham Group Treasurer |
